  • JOB TITLE: Industrial Engineer

    REPORTS TO: Supply Chain Development Manager (SCDM)

    JOB PURPOSE:

    The Industrial Engineer position supports the logistics organisation through a variety of projects focused on enhancing productivity, maximizing throughput and ensuring workplace safety. The position will primarily work with the strategic, tactical and operational teams on leading capacity and process improvement initiatives, developing subsequent standards and creating productivity measurements.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Support the delivery of capacity projects in line with the 5YR plan ensuring that measurable standards are in place prior to the handover of any project to the operational teams.

    Support SCDM in developing business case responses to brand initiatives as part of 5YR plan.

    Support the SCDM in developing the operational excellence plan for the EU network, working in conjunction with the leadership team to align all parts of the supply chain.

    Assist in the design, selection and installation of material handling equipment incorporated into existing, new and expanded distribution centres.

    Assist with the implementation of the productivity reporting system on site, driving the need to manage both team and individuals and the key actions required to deliver.

    Support the SCDM to develop the continuous improvement plan within the 5YR plan, focusing on the principle of co-ordinating people, process and environment initiatives

    Work with the site safety teams to drive standards of safety at all points

    Work with the Planning and Reporting manager to identify and capture key performance data within the CI plan

    Support the Head of Operations, GM & SCDM to prioritise initiatives and deliver in conjunction with the operational teams

    Ensure exceptional project governance standards to manage multiple projects

    Identify trends through fault analysis tools and subsequently work with suppliers to optimise process and flow

    Assist in the analysis and cost justification on all capital project requests

    Support environmental initiatives throughout the supply chain

    Lead the training of management and hourly workforce on productivity and work methods

    Develop the continuous improvement training program working in line with the culture

    Develop and assist with the implementation of a DC Quality Process Audit program

    Ensure the accuracy of the performance reporting system on a daily, weekly, monthly basis

    Develop the process for the gathering and feedback of operator ideas as part of the CI plan

    Work with US counter-parts to establish alignment and best practice globally

    Lead the efforts to develop and design office area layouts

    Maintain and improve the facility and campus training programs

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

    Minimum 5 years’ experience in an automated multi-channel distribution environment

    Demonstrable experience with work measurement methodologies and tools with an emphasis on time studies and standards creation with an up to date rating

    Experience in project management skills and governance

    Expertise in projects related to process design, work measurement, productivity improvement, cost reduction and project implementation

    Experience in best methods development

    Experience in the development and maintenance of a coaching and observation program

    Experience with productivity tracking, data collection systems

    Experience with Standard Data and Predetermined Time Systems

    Strong ability to gather, analyse and interpret information and develop, recommend and implement solutions while maintaining budget

    Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving skills

    Excellent PC skills – MS Suite

    Effective communication skills; demonstrated ability to interact across a broad range of organizational levels and functions

    Excellent interpersonal skills

    Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision

    Some travel required dependent on requirements

    Must be flexible with schedule and work hours in line with duties to meet fast-paced environment
